no matter what your feelings are about joel osteen, john piper, td jakes, or john calvin you can't deny the fact that as christians suffering & poverty are in our dna. the greatest danger that we christians here in america face is to forget that millions of our brothers & sisters in every other country in the world live in unspeakable poverty & suffering & yet are still committed to christ, still experiencing joy, & still bearing fruit.

Piper has changed the face of christianity for all people of the 20th and 21st century. The Lord is truly glorified thorugh John Piper. Thank the Lord for someone like Piper to carry out this message all over the world with books and sermons and missinary works.

oh yeah, definitely.....God made the world, so who else is going to give us what we have. but Jesus died for us to save us and give us eternal life, he didn't die so we could have good health or a lot of money

okay, but I think it's important to clarify that God is the provider of health and wealth, and though I agree that people should not get saved because of those alone, it is a mistake to think that those are not provided by God.

I dont think John Piper is advocating that God sent the daughter through the windshield as a means to glorify himself but rather that our greatest treasure despite all circumstances should be God's grace, love, and justice manifest in the cross of Christ. Sometimes we forget that not only possessions are temporary, but life is too and that God is the only constant.

Though I agree about the improper emphasis on the gospel message.. there is healing in the Gospel. "For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.." -Romans 1:16 In greek, the word Salvation translates to s?t?rion. S?t?rion means not only salvation for our sins, but it means so much more. It means Healing. It means deliverance. Peace of Mind. Safety. Restoration. Now try substituting each of those where it says "Salvation".

In my opinion, they are both unbalanced preachers; one preacher ultra wealth and the other ultra preaching. Why not preach a restored life in Jesus Christ to have what we need, instead of what we want? I think God came to save us from sin in this life as well. Dr. Piper's message discounts the value of life on this earth.
