Time Management Answers:

Reading time: 2 – 2 minutes

Organize Yourself in a style that Works for You

If you are like most people existing or living in the 21st century, you keep up a very full-on and feverish schedule each and every day. Therefore, efficient time management is a fundamental element in your life. When it comes to time management, there are a lot of different articles, books and videos on the market that offer people information about how they might want to approach scheduling and managing their time. Most of these articles, books and videos provide what might better be called a cookie cutter plan of attack to time management. A person could justifiably say, these articles, books and videos offer the same time management solutions for everyone in every type of circumstance – a simple one size fits all.

Actually, each person has different time management needs, requirements and objectives. What could work for one-man when it comes to time management and effective scheduling may not work at all for a different person. Why do I think that this is so I believe that each and every person has different time management and scheduling needs and overall personal and professional obligations.

Keeping that in mind, I believe that the most efficient type of time management systems is one in which an individually planned approach to time management and schedule coordination is developed.
Organized in a manner most suitable to the individual and not the simplistic one size fits all mentality.

Beating Brain Overload – Suggestion (Part 2)

Reading time: 1 – 2 minutes

Here are the next 5 ways I suggest to beat brain overload.

6. Go to a movie.

If you are able to fit in a two hour movie, at the theatre, it is worth the time and money just so you can get away mentally and physically. Sitting in front of the big screen is a great way to take your mind off everything.

7. Listen to motivational CDs or mp3 recordings.
This is a tip I picked up from well a number of known motivational speakers. When they are tired from intense thinking, they listen to motivational recordings. Although it might seem like this would be more work, it isn’t. By listening, you can relax, and become almost passive, as the ideas and schemes gradually break the drain.

8. Play a sport
Studies show that people who do a competitive sport such as tennis, basketball, golf, martial arts, or football are happier overall. To compete in the sport may make you tired physically, but will wake you up mentally. When you wake up mentally, brain drain stops being as big a problem.

“Eat, Pray, Love” by Elizabeth Gilbert (Book Recommendation)

Reading time: 1 – 2 minutes

“Eat, Pray, Love” by Elizabeth Gilbert

This is one of the most enjoyable and uplifting books I have read in a long time.

Autobiographical but reading like a novel, it tells the story of the author’s internal and external journey in search of spiritual enrichment and meaning after a difficult divorce and disillusionment with her life in corporate America.

She first travels to Italy, where she enrolls in a language school, not because of any need for a knowledge of Italian but in order to immerse herself in the beauty of the language and the passion of the country and its people. The ‘eat’ part of the title comes from her appreciation of the Italians’ love of good food and understanding that preparing meals and eating them in good company feeds the soul as well as the stomach. Reading this section of the book made me want to visit Italy again very soon.

Breathing is important

Reading time: 1 – 2 minutes

BREATH IS LIFE

Life is absolutely dependent upon the act of breathing. “Breath is Life.”

To breathe is to live, and without breath there is no life. Not only are the higher animals dependent upon breath for life and health, but even the lower forms of animal life must breathe to live, and plant life is likewise dependent upon the air for continued existence.

The infant draws in a long, deep breath, retains it for a moment to extract from it its life-giving properties, and then exhales it in a long wail, and lo! its life upon earth has begun. The old man gives a faint gasp, ceases to breathe, and life are over. From the first faint breath of the infant to the last gasp of the dying man, it is one long story of continued breathing. Life is but a series of breaths.

Breathing may be considered the most important of all of the functions of the body, for, indeed, all the other functions depend upon it. Man may exist some time without eating; a shorter time without drinking; but without breathing his existence may be measured by a few minutes.

Creative Thinking & Personal Growth

Reading time: 2 – 3 minutes

Creativity

People seem to have the misconception that only a select few are able to unleash a steady flow of creative genius. That is not true at all. The fact is, creativity is very much like a muscle that needs to be exercised in order to consistently give out great results. If you don’t practice harnessing creative thinking, this skill will very much atrophy into inexistence. But keep working and this skill will soon come to you in a snap.

So how do you unleash your creative thinking? Well, the first thing is to become a human leech. No, we’re not talking about just sucking the blood out of every living being available, we’re saying that you should take in as much knowledge and learning you can find. Read everything available — good and bad, and keep your mind open to the infinite possibilities of the universe. The more you know, the more you’ll want to know, and the more your faculty of wonder will be exercised. Prepare to be amazed at little facts that add a bit of color into your life.

Focus on a creative activity everyday. Yes, it’s an effort. Even doodling is a creative activity. Don’t let anything hinder you. Mindlessness may be a creative activity, but for people who are just starting out to unleash a little bit of creative thinking in their lives, it is helpful and encouraging to have concrete evidence, that, “hey, what I’m doing is getting somewhere.” So why don’t you try it. Practice drawing for a couple of minutes each day. Bring out your old camera and start snapping photos like crazy. Keep a journal and make a point to write in it religiously. Another cool idea is to write by describing something with your five senses. Try to avoid vague adjectives like “marvelous,” “amazing,” and “delicious.” Before you know it, you’ll have built yourself a tiny portfolio, and you’ll be amazed at the growth you’ve undertaken after amassing all those works of art. Who knows, you might actually take to liking those things you do everyday. Pretty soon those things will become a part of you and you’ll be addicted to these creative exercises.

Personality and Personal Development

Reading time: 1 – 2 minutes

Personality

Personality like many things in life is sort of concrete and can be difficult to define at times. The basic definition is the relatively stable characteristics that are enduring and distinctive which means it separates people from the crowd.

Psychologists that study personalities try to analyze why people act differently to different situations such as why one person acts shy when they first meet a stranger or while some people are just natural and funny and be themselves. Some scientists believe that this is genetically engraved and that people don’t have much control over this. Other psychologists believe that it’s the environment has a significant say in the way people act. The truth is that personality is a multi dimensional topic and requires pieces from various theories because everyone is unique – thankfully.

One theory called the psychodynamic perspective was discovered by Sigmund Freud. This theory basically states that personality merely exists on the surface and to find someone true personality you have to dig deep in mind. Psychologists who support this approach believe that personality is an unconscious process, or that the individuals are not aware that they conceited or confident.
