Do You Know…

Reading time: < 1 minute

Knowledge is Power

In personal development and personal growth one of the characteristics we develop is that of being an empowered individual. Part of being an empowered person is having intimate knowledge and awareness of yourself as an individual, including your strengths, talents, weaknesses, capabilities and limitations.

How well do you know yourself? You’d be surprised how many people don’t know themselves at all! If you’ve spent the majority of your time focusing on the people around you, you may not have a clear self-image, which can lead to feelings of inner disconnection and disempowerment.

On the other hand, when you know yourself well you are empowered in that knowledge. You feel confident, self-assured, centered and strong, which enables you to live purposely and make more beneficial decisions.

You Have Choices…

Reading time: < 1 minute

Exercising Your Right to Choose

You are a decision maker. Everyday as we travel along the path of self improvement and personal development we make choices and decisions – hundreds every day both those that we are aware of and those that our subconscious work on.

When it comes to making decisions, a chronic sense of disempowerment often results in feelings of helplessness or hopelessness that can affect the choices you make and determine your quality of life.

When you live your life as a disempowered person, you often feel like the majority of your life experiences are out of your control. You allow other people or events to determine what you think, say and do; how you spend your time, and even the general direction your life takes.

2009 Resolutions…

Reading time: < 1 minute

Making Resolutions You Will Keep

For many, goals have a history and habit of being pushed aside.
Why?
Perhaps they were made too complicated in the first place!

Having thought about and written down your desires for the year, search within.
Is there a saboteur lurking; what imprint may you have that stands between you and the fulfillment of your life desire.
The imprint or contract may not be visible to the conscious mind but you know what has happened in the past and you want to make life different in the future.

Learn skills that will give you the tools to release self-limiting emotions, break through ingrained patterning, open the door to the next step forward to achieve your goal and ultimately live the life you deserve.

More Productive Every Day

Some Feng Shui for Your Work Area

Today I thought I should introduce a little difference into our area of personal growth and self improvement and talk about our work area/environment.

If you work at a desk, then you would like to create it as a work environment that is as ergonomic-friendly as possible. As a matter of fact, making a peaceful and harmonious work area may in reality cause you to be more productive. Thinking about that, try some of these suggestions to feng shui your desk and work area.

· Add a live, green plant. Earth is one of the five elements. Adding a nice leafy green plant will not only bring a bit of feng shui to your desk, but it will provide a flow of oxygen to your work area.

Festive Season Feeling Not So Festive This Year.

Reading time: 1 – 2 minutes

Tough Times

Today I would first like to wish everyone a Happy and Safe Christmas/Festive Season. This is a great time to put all those personal growth and self improvement reading and lessons into action. With the number of social and family events that occur at this time of the year it is great opportunity to put the theory into practice.

I am not sure of the original author, so apologies for not
giving credit where due. I didn’t want to keep this a secret
from those who may benefit from it in times like these…

“Said the big white rooster, “Gosh all Hemlock, things are tough,
Seems that worms are getting scarce and I cannot find enough.
What’s become of all those fat ones is a mystery to me;
There were thousands through the rainy spell, but now where can they be?”

The Enemy of Self Improvement

Reading time: < 1 minute

Personal growth compared to

Today I’d like to share one of my negative and destructive habits. Fortunately my desire for self improvement and personal development has helped me to overcome this habit. What I’m talking about is comparison – - you know compared to

It took me a while to realize that comparing myself to others was one of the most destructive no-win games I had ever played with myself.

There will always be someone who is in better shape than us, fitter than us, richer than us and the list goes on and on.

Want and Desire

Reading time: < 1 minute

What is it? Do you want…..or do you desire…

As we’re closing out the current year many people over the next few weeks will be looking back on 2008 and as part of their personal growth plan start setting goals for 2009.

Do any of the following sound familiar?

“I want to be financially independent”
“I want to travel more.”
“I want to help more asked [fit in an area of giving]”
“I want more time with my family”
“I want to fire my boss”
