Some Feng Shui for Your Work Area

Today I thought I should introduce a little difference into our area of personal growth and self improvement and talk about our work area/environment.

If you work at a desk, then you would like to create it as a work environment that is as ergonomic-friendly as possible. As a matter of fact, making a peaceful and harmonious work area may in reality cause you to be more productive. Thinking about that, try some of these suggestions to feng shui your desk and work area.

· Add a live, green plant. Earth is one of the five elements. Adding a nice leafy green plant will not only bring a bit of feng shui to your desk, but it will provide a flow of oxygen to your work area.

Want and Desire

What is it? Do you want…..or do you desire…

As we’re closing out the current year many people over the next few weeks will be looking back on 2008 and as part of their personal growth plan start setting goals for 2009.

Do any of the following sound familiar?

“I want to be financially independent”
“I want to travel more.”
“I want to help more asked [fit in an area of giving]”
“I want more time with my family”
“I want to fire my boss”

Motivation Plus …

Motivation Plus Momentum

When you have made the decision to take on the life change of personal growth and set your first group of goals actually getting started - taking action - can often be the most difficult step. We all know how easy it is to do it all in our head where we can to dream and plan without really having to actually do anything. A lot of people grind to a halt here spin their wheels and avoid taking action. Planning and dreaming could make you think that you’re doing something about your goals, but if you never really take action like taking a step forward like stepping up to the plate then you’ll never achieve them. To see measurable progress, you have to push yourself out of your comfort zones and take action.

When your motivation and courage combine and you start to move ahead what generally happens? You recognize it’s WAY harder than you guessed it would be, right? It feels like you’re trying to sprint uphill. You keep stumbling across hurdles and humbling circumstance, facing setbacks and delays, grappling with fear and anxiety, and brawling in the daily battle to stay focused and motivated.

This is the time most normal people would throw in the towel. They say to themselves that “it isn’t meant to be” right now, so they set their goals dreams aside and promise themselves that they try again later. Or sorrier, they reconcile themselves to live a life of meritocracy because they don’t believe they have what it takes to succeed. They’ve “failed,” so they’re not going to try any more.

Ability to Improve …

How To Improve Your Personal Life

Are you interested to improve your everyday living and to achieve personal success? To improve living you must firstly have the ability to take control. Our life is personal, and different, to each and every one of us. The way we make choices adds to our personality. In life we have our inner coaches, counselors, etc that help us to achieve in life. We also have helpful experts in the world who will take the time to help those who don’t have the motivation or are finding it difficult to start their journey of personal growth and self development.

When you’ve got ability you feel joyful. A joyful person will look at each incident, experience etc in life as something they can learn from. When it hits the fan this person will not allow the bad or negative to weigh him or her down. They will take the bad, see new light and continue learning from his or her mistakes. There is a world of difference between failing and being a failure.

We hear bad news each and every day. Like the US is battling hard with the economic free fall as well as other countries. This is out of our control. Therefore, we should look at this in a new light. For instance, you can say “I do not have control over the world, yet I have control over my actions.” Once you see that you can only change you, you will live happier, with less stress and free of chaos.

Ending Procrastination…

End Procrastination With Motivation ?

Do you think the best way to deal with procrastination is to “get tough” with yourself and “just do it?” Plenty of people take this approach. This supports the idea that procrastination is basically a character flaw, a weakness, and the only way to deal with it is to power past it through sheer will. But the truth is there’s a more effective way to approach the challenge that also happens to be much more self-respectful.

Basically, the idea is to discover what is MOTIVATING the procrastination behavior, consider it legitimate, and then address that. For example, you may be putting off doing something because you actually do not know how to do it. The way to solve that challenge would be to get some help. Or, perhaps you’re avoiding making a particular phone call because you’re afraid of the outcome. The way to address this fear is to arrange a call with someone you trust and can confide in before and after the fear-inducing call. Now you know you have support both before and after the difficult encounter.

Get the idea? Abandon the character flaw idea, and look for what is really underlying the procrastination. Once you know what that is, you can usually figure out a way to deal with it, get unstuck, and get moving again.

Old Age… Is It A Gift?

The Gift Of Old Age

This poem was sent to me and I do not know who the author is. So I thank my friend and the unknown poet. I am amazed by the abundance of common sense, personal growth and motivation contain in this.

“Old Age, I decided, is a gift

I am now, probably for the first time in my life,
the person I have always wanted to be.
Oh, not my body!
I sometime despair over my body, the wrinkles, the
baggy eyes and the sagging butt. And often I am
taken aback by that old person that lives in my mirror
but I don’t agonize over those things for long.
