Thank You Mom…

Reading time: 1 – 2 minutes

Mothers Day Thanks

In 1914, Congress passed legislation designating the second Sunday in May as Mother’s Day.
The first Mother’s Day ceremonial was a church service in 1908 organized by Anna Jarvis, of Philadelphia, to honor her deceased mother. Anna, had heard her mother express hope that a day to honor all mothers would be established – so she took action.

History shows that in the British Isles and Celtic Europe there was a festival called the “Spring Mother’s Day” which celebrated the honor of the Goddess Brigid. However, these festivals are totally different from the present Mother’s Day in that they celebrated the concept of motherhood rather than giving honor and respect to mothers.

Mother’s Day is a celebration of womanhood, when we celebrate not only the involvement that a mother makes within her family by nurturing her children but also the contribution she makes to the society at large. Because of our mother we are perfectly grown-up. A mother takes us under her protection right from the moment we are conceived. She feeds us, cleans us and teaches us to walk, talk and play.

Taking Care of You…

Reading time: < 1 minute

Are you taking care of yourself?

Firstly a belated Happy New Year to all.

If you are wondering why I have no posting for January 1 it’s because I have taken an example out of my own studies of personal development and growth and given a day to myself and those I love. So you can see I eat my own cooking !!

As lots of people start 2009 with their own New Year resolutions I would like to suggest one that perhaps you have not got on your list but I suggest you consider it – “Taking Care of You”.
What do I mean you say? Well

Taking care of yourself means eating a healthy diet, getting daily exercise and learning to relax and take care of your mental health.

More Productive Every Day

Some Feng Shui for Your Work Area

Today I thought I should introduce a little difference into our area of personal growth and self improvement and talk about our work area/environment.

If you work at a desk, then you would like to create it as a work environment that is as ergonomic-friendly as possible. As a matter of fact, making a peaceful and harmonious work area may in reality cause you to be more productive. Thinking about that, try some of these suggestions to feng shui your desk and work area.

· Add a live, green plant. Earth is one of the five elements. Adding a nice leafy green plant will not only bring a bit of feng shui to your desk, but it will provide a flow of oxygen to your work area.

Winning Thinking…

Reading time: < 1 minute

Today think like a winner

Okay who hasn’t been beat-up in the past either by their friends, family or the hardest judge of all themselves?

Who hasn’t had times of discouragement?

Haven’t we all had times when we didn’t get the encouragement, approval or even love that we felt we needed.

Success… A Personal Definition.

Reading time: 1 – 2 minutes

Success What Does It Mean To You?

Isn’t every day a full day – not enough hours so many things to be done. You likely have family and employment responsibilities. You may even offer some of your time occasionally to different worthy causes. But when the end of the day arrives, do you feel like you have had a successful day and that you are truly a success? Or do you feel used up and worthless?

Success Is Not Defined By How Much You Do

In truth many people run themselves ragged every day, like a dog chasing its tail, searching for that slice of life they think will make them feel happy and successful. Often, this can lead to misery and dissatisfaction…sometimes, in extreme situation even depression. People are often searching for answers but asking themselves the wrong questions this is where personal development and personal growth can help.
The truth is, it doesn’t matter how much you do, no matter how much time you give to others, your success can never be purely defined by a level achievements measured against a specific time frame . Read the rest of this entry »

Old Age… Is It A Gift?

Reading time: < 1 minute

The Gift Of Old Age

This poem was sent to me and I do not know who the author is. So I thank my friend and the unknown poet. I am amazed by the abundance of common sense, personal growth and motivation contain in this.

“Old Age, I decided, is a gift

I am now, probably for the first time in my life,
the person I have always wanted to be.
Oh, not my body!
I sometime despair over my body, the wrinkles, the
baggy eyes and the sagging butt. And often I am
taken aback by that old person that lives in my mirror
but I don’t agonize over those things for long.

The ‘Word’ That Leads To Success…

Reading time: < 1 minute

Can One Word Lead To Success…

I can’t prove this, but my educated guess is this is the most
popular word in the world.

“Interesting you say, but what is it?”

Before I share it with you, let me say this.
