The Law of Attraction and Children

To see how best to apply the Law of Attraction to produce desired results in our lives, all we need to do is look to the maestros of this process - children.

Children are inclined to accept the Law of Attraction without much trouble or resistance at all. They are used to Asking for what they’re want, Accepting that their asking is to be satisfied by a power outside themselves, and Allowing their requests to be granted.

Children aren’t caught up like adults in cycles of self-loathing or un-deservingness. Neither have they been conditioned to think that the only way to have anything is to go out and get it themselves. Their attitude in life, as depending on parental figures, requires that they trust forces external of themselves, forces they do not understand, to provide for their fulfillment. They accept that, and behave accordingly - asking for what they want and then waiting for it to be given, with no shred of doubt about the fact that they deserve having everything they ask for.

Self harm urges worse using self help book?

Jen asked:

I’ve been a self harmer for 2 and a half years, and I’m trying to stop……..I’ve bought a self help book called “The Scarred Soul” and in it there are exercises where they ask you to write out answers to specific questions about your self harm in a journal.

Anyway, the thing is, as I’ve been working through the exercises, I’ve been getting strong urges to self harm - writing about it makes me want to do it more, and reading certain parts of the book almost gives me ideas of alternative ways to self harm.

I was told this book was really good, and I do want to work through things and eventually stop self harming, but is it a good idea to continue with the book when it’s making myself harm urges worse? What should I do about this? Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.
You know, telling people to go kill themselves is really nasty and unhelpful. If you don’t have anything worth saying then don’t say anything at all. I’m not on here looking for sympathy or attention or anything like that, I just wanted some advice on a problem, what’s so wrong about that???

Help yourself

Personal Development and Self Help

Simply by believing that a task can be achieved, a person helps themselves to achieve the task. There are numerous other such simple processes that can be used as your techniques to improve the end result. There are many psychological self help techniques that one could use to improve one’s overall performance. These techniques can be learned from a book or from a self-help group. These processes also involve techniques like hypnosis. In fact, when we are told to think positively, we fail to understand that the only thing the requester is doing, is inducing one to help oneself. There are several books that many of us refer, to improve our performance in various fields. Most of these books deal with the basic principle: “God helps those who help themselves.”

Self Improvement and Action

The key to any self improvement is always recognition and intent to change, and finally taking some form of action. It is action that eventually gets the ball rolling. You can think about it, have wonderful visions about it, or meditate on the subject till you heart is content, in the final analysis it is only some type of action that will get you to achieve your goal.

Psychological Self-Help

I was at Borders Bookstore a while ago and I came across the Self-Help section. It was massive and crammed full of books about how you can make yourself smarter, improve your memory, loose weight, beat Vegas, lower stress, get rich, etc. Almost any topic you can think of has a book that claims to have figured it all out. The underlying theme of all these books is: you will be able to do whatever it is by simply harnessing the power of your mind. Initially I thought it was whacky but then I realized how popular these books really are.

There are many different ways in which one can achieve self improvement through self -help. One often discussed method is through psychological self help. Psychological self help deals with the enforcement of self control on oneself by controlling one’s conscious. Some of the psychological self help techniques deal with recognizing one’s own weaknesses and thus, dealing with them in order to improve one’s circumstances and thus, improve the end result.

Psychological self-help deals with changing within oneself so as to adjust to the environment. This view is very different from the common belief that most humans follow. Unlike the widespread belief of changing the environment, the psychological technique, for personality help, looks at bringing about a change in an individual’s concept. Even a slight positive change in the self concept can make a huge amount of difference to one’s esteem. It also motivates and inspires one towards personality improvement.

The Law of Attraction Doesn’t Work! (Part 2)

The Law of Attraction Doesn’t Work!

- continued

First off, let’s turn to the things that you are unhappy with. You must not think about them and give them anymore energy. Because if you are trying NOT to attract something, you are in fact making it stronger because you are actually thinking about that something. Why is this you may well ask, this is because the Universal Laws of Attraction works on whatever you think about, whether you are thinking about you want it or thinking about what you don’t want. Either way, you add creation/attraction energy to what you are thinking about. Instead, begin focusing on what it is that you want to replace the thing that you are unhappy with in your life. Put all your attention, imagination, and thoughts into this new thing, and let the old, undesirable thing fall by the roadside.

Next, make sure that you are focusing on what it is that you really desire, and not merely a means to acquire it. For example many people often mistake money as a desire. Money itself is almost never the actual desire, rather the effects of what money can do for a person like freedom of time, the ability to have nice things, these are the true desire. Money is but the means to these desires. It has been proven that it is difficult to build up the necessary emotional energy over simply a means. Over the actual desire, however, emotional energy is abundant, and manifestation of that will be swift.

Finally, you need to set aside time in your day, each and every day, to practice the necessary exercises of visualization and positive thinking. Your daily thinking habits will take time to change, and they will continue to work against your new goals. You must force yourself to create a new routine, and over time this new routine will alter your normal, daily thinking routine.
