I would like to share with you some of the views of Dr. John Demartini one of the teachers in The Secret talking about the Law of Attraction and money.

Unless you appreciate the money that comes to you, which is a different way of saying that you value it and are grateful for it, it’s not going to be part of your life for long. Whatever you don’t appreciate will depreciate!

Money automatically flows to those who appreciate it the most. It automatically finds its way to those who study and practice the principles of wise money management. People who devalue money, who say its unimportant or even ‘”evil”, tend to spend their lives working for it. Those who value money, who save it and use it to enhance the world around them, end up with money working for them. Know that if you have to work for money, you’re its slave, yet you’re its master when you put it to work for you.

Lets be really clear about this. Financial independence and having money have nothing to do with how much money you make. It has everything to do with how you manage the money that comes your way. And how you manage money has everything to do with your hierarchy of values.

If you’ve discovered that a lack of appreciation for money may be holding you back from having the cash flow you’d love, there’s good news: You don’t have to perpetuate this illusion of scarcity. You can alter your perceptions and even change your values.

As you already know, you have your own unique, ordered set of values. If building wealth didn’t even show up on your list or it appeared somewhere long after the top ten, then there’s a simple exercise you can do to boost its rankings – which I will go into in my next post .

The Secret – Rhonda Byrne answers some tricky Questions

Following my posts a couple of days ago about some tricky questions and The Secret, I came across (attracted?) an online article which Rhonda Byrne, the person behind the film and the book, gave her views on some of these issues.

I’ll need to re-read it before commenting, but I’ll paste the text below and you can form your own opinion. In any event, it’s an interesting read.

Regarding criticism that the principles behind “The Secret,” taken to their extreme, can lead to a blame-the-victim mentality:

I can see why this is a difficult concept to understand. However, when we shift our awareness or “frequency” from self-consciousness — where fear, impossibility or feelings of separation reside — to cosmic consciousness, which is in total harmony with the universe and where none of those feelings exist, then anything is possible.

“The Secret’s” message is to empower people. Its message releases people from feeling like victims and gives them the knowledge to intentionally create their lives the way they want. …

“The Secret’s” message is to let go of all blame because it only destroys you, and to move forward with hope, love, compassion and kindness. Those are the emotions that will completely transform your life into joy. And so ultimately each one of us has a choice.

On how “The Secret” applies to events in which massive numbers of people died, such as the Holocaust, and whether such tragedies fall under the law of attraction she espouses:

Tragedies on the scale of the Holocaust defy understanding for most people. …

In responding to the question about events where massive numbers of people are killed, there are a few important points to consider. First, there is no one to blame.

Secondly, the law of attraction is absolute; it is impersonal and it is precise and exact. This law governs this reciprocal universe that we live in. It is important to remember that we are energy. Einstein told us that. And energy cannot be created or destroyed, it just changes form.

The energy and life of each of us has always been and will always be. In a large-scale tragedy, like 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, etc., we see that the law of attraction responds to people being at the wrong place at the wrong time because their dominant thoughts were on the same frequency of such events.

Now, this doesn’t mean that they thought of the same exact event, but if their dominant thoughts and feelings were in alignment with the energy of fear, separation, powerlessness and having no control over outside circumstances, then that is what they attracted.

Remember, while many people died in these tragic events, there were also many miraculous stories of survival, and the same can be said about those people whose thoughts were in alignment with the energy of unity, love, oneness and joy with the universe. It is understanding how the law of attraction applies here that answers your question. …

Many factors came into play, including mass consciousness of the planet at the time. It is also important to remember that the Holocaust spanned some six years, and over that time the energy of the fear escalated, intensified and spread, reaching many more people. Humanity learned a lot through the Holocaust, and as a race we went from separation and closer to the concept of unity.

How to Stop Negative Thoughts

Even though these days I am focusing more and more of my energy on the Law of Attraction and enjoying the benefits which flow from it, from time to time I have periods of self-doubt and pessimism (and I know I’m not alone in this).

My rational mind tells me that this serves little, if any, useful purpose, but it’s still easy to get sometimes get wrapped up in negativity a while. (Do you ever feel like this?)

I was therefore very interested and inspired to read an article on this subject by Rhonda Byrne, produce of The Secret. I’ve pasted it below, and hope you enjoy it too.

“How do I stop my negative thoughts?” – is a question that I have been asked many times. If you have ever asked this question then you will feel such enormous relief in knowing the answer, because it is so simple. How do you stop negative thoughts? You plant good thoughts!When you try to stop negative thoughts, you are focusing on what you don’t want – negative thoughts – and you will attract an abundance of them. They can never disappear if you are focused on them. The “stop” part is irrelevant – the negative thoughts are your focus. It doesn’t matter if you are trying to stop negative thoughts or control them or push them away, the result is the same. Your focus is on negative thoughts, and by the law of attraction you are inviting more of them to you.

The truth is always simple and it is always easy. To stop negative thoughts, just plant good thoughts! Deliberately plant good thoughts! You plant good thoughts by making it a daily practice to appreciate all the things in your day. Appreciate your health, your car, your home, your family, your job, your friends, your surroundings, your meals, your pets, and the magnificent beauty of the day. Compliment, praise, and give thanks to all things. Every time you say “Thank you” it is a good thought! As you plant more and more good thoughts, the negative thoughts will be wiped out. Why? Because your focus is on good thoughts, and what you focus on you attract.

So don’t give any attention to negative thoughts. Don’t worry about them. If any come, make light of them, shrug them off, and let them be your reminder to deliberately think more good thoughts now.

The more good thoughts you can plant in a day, the faster your life will be utterly transformed into all good. If you spend only one day speaking of good things and saying “Thank you” at every single opportunity, you will not believe your tomorrow. Deliberately thinking good thoughts is exactly like planting seeds. As you think good thoughts you are planting good seeds inside you, and the Universe will transform those seeds into a garden of paradise. How will the garden of paradise appear? As your life!

“What the Bleep do We Know” and “The Secret”

Have you seen these two movies? And have you watched them one after the other? That was how I saw both of them for the first time, starting quite late in the evening (around 9.30pm at a friend’s house).

Frankly, it was a bit too much to see them like that, especially when I was already tired at the end of the week. What’s more, we viewed “What the Bleep” first of all, so, after we had had a break and some more to eat and drink, “The Secret” was nearly a midnight screening.

Perhaps inevitably, I found that they two movies tended to blur in my mind, and the next day I was unsure as to which ‘teacher’ was in each film.

What I did remember was that the Bleep film had some animated sequences which, to me, detracted from the message they were trying to put across. Maybe they felt they needed something to lighten up the quantum physics.

However, I also recall that it dealt mainly with emotional and other non-material aspects of life, particularly in the personal struggles of the main character, the photographer.

In contrast, The Secret appeared very materialistic, nearly all of its examples being around the manifestation of objects of desire, such as new bicycles, jewelry, large houses etc. I know I’m not the only one to have been a bit uncomfortable with this, but I understand that there is a sequel in the works, so perhaps that will deal more with the intangible, but arguably more important, aspects of life.
