Do You Know…

Reading time: < 1 minute

Knowledge is Power

In personal development and personal growth one of the characteristics we develop is that of being an empowered individual. Part of being an empowered person is having intimate knowledge and awareness of yourself as an individual, including your strengths, talents, weaknesses, capabilities and limitations.

How well do you know yourself? You’d be surprised how many people don’t know themselves at all! If you’ve spent the majority of your time focusing on the people around you, you may not have a clear self-image, which can lead to feelings of inner disconnection and disempowerment.

On the other hand, when you know yourself well you are empowered in that knowledge. You feel confident, self-assured, centered and strong, which enables you to live purposely and make more beneficial decisions.

Want and Desire

Reading time: < 1 minute

What is it? Do you want…..or do you desire…

As we’re closing out the current year many people over the next few weeks will be looking back on 2008 and as part of their personal growth plan start setting goals for 2009.

Do any of the following sound familiar?

“I want to be financially independent”
“I want to travel more.”
“I want to help more asked [fit in an area of giving]”
“I want more time with my family”
“I want to fire my boss”

Finding Motivation

Reading time: 1 – 2 minutes

How To Find Motivation

I hate to exercise. I really do. I feel good afterward, and I’m definitely getting in better shape because of it, but I hate it. It’s a real challenge for me. Anyway what do my exercise habits have to do with finding motivation? Hang on for a few moments and it will all make sense. It may even be enlightening.

My latest physical check-up highlighted a few health challenges and lots of room for improvement. I’m planning an active holiday and the check-up showed that I would not be capable of enjoying the holiday and taking part in the activities unless there were some big changes in my health. That was a strong motivation to get back in shape, right? Sure it is, but that didn’t make it easy.

I’d get on the treadmill bound and determined to walk for 30 minutes, and I’d find myself getting bored out of my mind and irritated with the soreness in my muscles 15 minutes into it. Half the time I would just give up, and the other half was so aggravating that I vowed never to do it again. Of course, my motivation was strong, and so I’d try again the next day.

Dig The Well

Reading time: 1 – 2 minutes

Dig The Well BEFORE You’re Thirsty

Tell me if this doesn’t sound like something you hear way too often, especially if you hang out at forums a lot. Personally, I hear this sort of thing so much, I just want to scream.

“I have a problem. My cat just died and I need $500 to give him a decent burial. I don’t want to just throw him in the ground. There’s this excellent pet cemetery down the street and I’d love to put his remains there. I need a way to make $500 fast. The vet can only keep his body for 3 days. So I need to make $500 in the next 2 days. Can you help me?”

Sound familiar? It should. This is what I hear. The truth of the matter is, there is no real quick way to make a substantial amount of money fast, not that I consider $500 a substantial amount of money. But even a sum like this takes time, especially if you’re just starting out.

Time Management Answers:

Reading time: 2 – 2 minutes

Organize Yourself in a style that Works for You

If you are like most people existing or living in the 21st century, you keep up a very full-on and feverish schedule each and every day. Therefore, efficient time management is a fundamental element in your life. When it comes to time management, there are a lot of different articles, books and videos on the market that offer people information about how they might want to approach scheduling and managing their time. Most of these articles, books and videos provide what might better be called a cookie cutter plan of attack to time management. A person could justifiably say, these articles, books and videos offer the same time management solutions for everyone in every type of circumstance – a simple one size fits all.

Actually, each person has different time management needs, requirements and objectives. What could work for one-man when it comes to time management and effective scheduling may not work at all for a different person. Why do I think that this is so I believe that each and every person has different time management and scheduling needs and overall personal and professional obligations.

Keeping that in mind, I believe that the most efficient type of time management systems is one in which an individually planned approach to time management and schedule coordination is developed.
Organized in a manner most suitable to the individual and not the simplistic one size fits all mentality.
