Beating Brain Overload - Suggestion (Part 1)

Here are the first 5 ways you can beat brain overload.

1. Meditate
By meditate, I mean relaxing with your eyes closed for at least 20 minutes. Sit still and simply note the thoughts that arrive into your mind. Don’t try to solve any problems. Just chill out and let go.

2. Take A Walk
A brisk walk out-of-doors—especially in parkland or somewhere you are not familiar with will take your mind off your main task so it can relax. Pay attention to the views as you travel. Stop and smell the roses, as the cliché goes. Take a minute to see the beauty of panoramas.

3. Listen to classical music
Sitting still with relaxing music playing through headphones can exceed the brain overload. It will relax you while cajoling your mind to think about other things.

Leadership - A Tale of Two ….

This is a story I heard recently about Leadership. It is about two men who have been in a similar business for over 40 years. Both are now within a couple of months of retirement.

One is confident and self-assured. He is a former president of his local professional society. He has a fairly big voice, and he’s fast to tell you about his achievements. When asked any technical type question, he always has a quick response, never looking anything up. He says he ran his own business organization for many years before he linked up our business firm three years ago. He hasn’t told me why he stopped, but it has become clear. His quick answers are usually incorrect. His work is embarrassing to ay the least at its best. He claims to be a leader, but he is not recognized by his peers as being one..

The other man is quiet and modest and some even call him, a very old fashioned term I know, a gentleman. More likely than not, he’ll be apologetic as he shows you some of his brilliant work. When asked a question, he almost never has a quick answer. Instead it usually takes him some time to dig out his notes and come to a solution. Often, he’ll work late into the night to retrieve the right answer because he’s curious, too. He speaks gently, and I’ve never seen him upset. More than once, I have seen him silence a loud meeting without raising his voice. When he speaks, people invariably listen. That’s real Leadership in my view.

Magnifying the Positive Effects of Gratitude

Magnifying the Positive Effects of Gratitude

I have written about gratitude in previous posts in this blog, and I truly believe that it can be a very powerful force in life, causing us to focus on the positive and so bring about beneficial results.

A friend and I were talking about this earlier today, and she told me of a technique which she uses to help focus on gratitude and even to magnify its positive effects. It’s such as simple idea that I don’t know why I didn’t think of it - but I plan to start using the technique right away.

All you have to do is get fresh, new notebook - you may wish to choose one which will fit in a pocket or your purse or briefcase. You may wish to decorate it in a way which appeals to you. This becomes your personal “Gratitude Book″ or “Gratitude Journal”.

How to create a Vision Board

How to create a Vision Board

A number of books I have read about the Law of Attraction have spoken about the benefits of Vision Boards, and indeed I made one in a course I attended a while back. But I must confess, I never really took the process very seriously, as I associated it with being back in junior school and making collages.

However, as I see the Law of Attraction having a beneficial effect in my life, I realise that, by manifesting my mental and emotional vision in paper and glue, I can hasten the manifestation into reality.

Having decided to do the visionboard thing ‘properly’, I guess that I attracted to me a piece written by my friend and colleague Ralph, from London. I found it valuable, and I think you may also be inspired by it to get snipping up those old magazines (but with the right, focused intention).

Success in Home Business (even when others don’t support you)

Success in Home Business (even when others don’t support you)

Many people would like to run their own business, and the home business industry is flourishing. In particular, multi-level marketing companies offer the promise of recurring passive income and even great wealth. New ‘independent business owners’ are often excited and highly committed to doing whatever it takes to succeed.

But what happens when others around them are highly skeptical and unsupportive? This happens quite frequently, especially when previous goals have not been realized and the sacrifices made in trying to achieve them have made demands on family life which are perceived as being excessive.

A typical example is where someone has tried various home businesses before and has lost money, despite spending a lot of time in meetings, conference calls, customer presentations etc. A spouse is then unlikely to want to get involved, and may be hostile to the whole enterprise.

How Strong is the Power of Place?

How Strong is the Power of Place?

Recently I was thinking about the extent to which we as human beings are affected by our environment and how we can also be independent of it.

On the face of it, it’s easy to believe that we will generally feel better if we are in a beautiful place, close to nature, away from the noise and pollution of the urban sprawl. And perhaps that is generally the case when we are on vacation, ‘getting away from it all’, when we are not only in a more pleasant environment but are also away from the stress of the workplace. But life’s not that simple, and there’s not necessarily a direct link between the place where we are and how we feel, especially if all is not right in our internal world.

I clearly remember a conversation I had with a European couple a few years ago. They had left their high-stress careers in advertising in a crowded capital city to run a dive centre on a small Indonesian island near Bali, a real paradise of white sand and palm trees.

The Law of Attraction and Meditation - Clearing out the Junk

The Law of Attraction and Meditation

I am currently visiting Cambridge in the UK and last night I
attended a talk on “finding happiness” at the magnificent
St Catherine’s college.

The speaker was a remarkable and very wise 91-year-old
Indian lady, Dadi Janki. She is a leader of Brahma Kumaris
Spiritual University (often known by the name of their
meditation practice, Raja Yoga).

Speaking in Hindi through an interpreter, she covered a lot of
ideas which were in one way or another related to the
Law of Attraction. I’d like to relate one of them.
