Magnifying the Positive Effects of Gratitude
Magnifying the Positive Effects of Gratitude
I have written about gratitude in previous posts in this blog, and I truly believe that it can be a very powerful force in life, causing us to focus on the positive and so bring about beneficial results.
A friend and I were talking about this earlier today, and she told me of a technique which she uses to help focus on gratitude and even to magnify its positive effects. It’s such as simple idea that I don’t know why I didn’t think of it - but I plan to start using the technique right away.
All you have to do is get fresh, new notebook - you may wish to choose one which will fit in a pocket or your purse or briefcase. You may wish to decorate it in a way which appeals to you. This becomes your personal “Gratitude Book″ or “Gratitude Journal”.
Every night, before you go to sleep, write in the book four or five things which you are grateful for. These may be events which happened during the day, or alternatively more constant aspects of your life, such as the love of your friends or family.
By doing this, you put yourself into a positive state of mind before you go to sleep, so your unconscious is infused with positive energy for its journey into dreamland.
You may or may not recall pleasant dreams in the morning, but my friend is convinced that she has been enjoying deeper, more restful sleep since she started this practice a few months ago.
In the morning, you can get the day off to a good start by opening the book at random and reading a few entries. What’s more - and this is where having it in pocket-size format comes in - you can carry it with you and, if, for example, someone at work really annoys you or something doesn′t go according to plan, you can ground yourself with positive, grateful thoughts taken from your own life.
I’ll be writing about gratitude again, and I’ll let you know how this works out for me. I’ll also be really interested in your experiences if you are already doing something like this or would like to give it a try.
Until next time,
Warmly,
Chris
PS I will also try combining this practice with the use of the Attraction Accelerator for a supercharged effect…!

Great idea. The only problem will off course to remember writing in the book. But I forget too often to be gratefull.
It also might be a great idea to reread all you have written once in a while.
