Grinding It Out

Implications of what…

Today as part of my personal growth and self development I have decided to do some brain exercises.
Sometimes I find it’s not just enough to listen or read but that I actually need to take the time to think about what I am studying. So I’d like to share with you the situation that I am exercising by thinking about.

Would you consider a person lucky if they worked at their job for 20, 30 or even 40 years, carefully saving their money investing it wisely and then taking a round the world trip are retiring to a tropical paradise? Isn’t it surprising how many times you will hear people say “wow they are so lucky” when talking about someone who made the choice of “slave and save” to have the things that were important to them and that they wanted.

Maybe you’ve heard yourself saying this either inside your head arm maybe just out loud. If you have I’d like you to think about the implications of this.

Do you think that after you’ve put in your 40 hours on the job every week and on Friday received your paycheck do you jump around saying “man I’m just sooooo lucky”. I think the only difference between these two examples is the time scale. Why would having a well-earned reward after 40 years of work be any luckier than after 40 hours?.

How about this lets change the situation a bit and make this 40 hour paycheck the first one that you have received after 12 months of employment. Now I ask you how lucky do you feel? As we change the surrounding circumstances of a situation we get a come weekly different perspective of things don’t we.

Most of the time we never even think about the implications when we think our say such things.

If this has given you some brain exercise let’s hear about.
