The Middle Way
Today’s thoughts in our journey of personal growth, self improvement and general betterment comes from a recent reading I discovered and I want to share with you.
“Compassion and inner peace are precious things, easily lost through intoxication.”
This advice was given by the Buddha to his followers over 2500 years ago. I believe this has a resonance for us today.
Being in a self-centered and over stimulated age, it is easy to lose contact with our true, inner selves and to be insensitive to others.
This does not mean that we must leave the life of an ascetic.
The Buddha himself recommended the “Middle Way”. This is a path of moderation that reject both sensory intelligence and extreme mortification.
As you journey along life’s bumpy road what way do you take?
Interested in your thoughts on this.
