Take Charge

In personal development and self improvement as in many areas of our lives it has often been said “The greater the risk, the greater the return”. People who are in business will often tell you how true that phrase is. There has always been a trade-off between risk and returns. It is a logical relationship. The more risk you take, the more returns you’ll expect to get and the less risk you take, the lesser the returns you’ll expect to get.

But, are you taking a risk with your life? Are you letting life (or rather, situations) control your behavior? Are you leaving it all to luck? If yes, be alert because you’ll never know when you will have to lose everything you have. If there is one place where the phrase “more risk means more return” DOES NOT apply, it has to be your life.

We humans are habitual of copying the behavior of others that we see around us. For the same reason, we have “learned” to take life as it comes and without any plan. If a situation makes us happy, we get happy. If a situation makes us sad, we get sad. If a situation makes us give up, we give up! There are so many people around us who have no “life”, who have no idea why they are alive and they lack a direction. They simply “exist”.

There are a really only a very few people who really know where they are going, why they are going and when they are going to get there. They have full CONTROL over their lives. These are the people who actually “live their lives” and do not just “exist”.

Now take a minute and answer me this question - Whom do you think is more happy, secure and successful in life - the people who “exist” or the people who “live”? It’s the people who live. These are the people who get everything they want because they actually work in that direction and put efforts to achieve their goals in life.

So, you have only two choices - to exist or to live. To actually be able to live that life of happiness and comfort that EVERYONE dreams to live, you need to choose the second choice - to live. It is time to take charge of your life. It is time to set down your action plan to achieve the goals you will be setting for you. It is time that you take control of your situations rather than the other way round.

It is said that if you don’t think about your future, you wouldn’t have one and that is exactly why you need to control the direction your life is headed to. You cannot go on adjusting with situations all the time, letting them control your life and still expect to achieve success and happiness. Absolutely not !!.

It is only when you work hard and consistently towards achieving your goals (once you’ve set them, that is) that you’ll find success. There are no shortcuts and no tricks. As they say, “The only way out is the way through.”
