Why Men Don’t - (part 1)
Why Men Don’t Communicate -
(part 1)
Almost all women believe their man is the strong, silent type (or perhaps just the silent type when it comes to sharing their emotions), and they wonder how come he does not share his feelings.
Well here’s the simple truth: Men really do want to open up, about their hopes, their fears, and their passions. Yet arrange for him to be alone in a room with you, and he often turns into a Sphinx - living out the saying “Silence is Golden”. Why can’t he take his eyes off the TV and discuss the state of your relationship, or your financial position, or anything that would open his true emotional feelings? Why can’t he simply sum up his day in a few minutes?
Recent surveys have shown that in fact, one in five women say that they commonly fight about a man’s lack of verbal communication and interaction, and one in three men state that their failure to communicate effectively is the source of major disputes in the relationship. Now why is that so?
A possible answer may be that even those men who have feelings to share do not always feel at ease sharing them with their partner. Here are some of the reasons why certain men often prefer to bottle it up and internalize their feelings, rather than sharing them with their partners
Males Are Intimidated
Without question, women are seen to be the more expert of the genders when it comes to being communicators. Their natural skills of being able to toss questions like Oprah W, after a strong cup of coffee; they’re firing on all cylinders. Women’s natural skills include: That special knowing and intuition about the people around them, an acute set of emotions tuned to that awareness, and a large and rich vocabulary they use to talk about anything and everything at anytime.
They are always exercising these skills on their many female friends, so they’re in top talk mode all the time. Men recognize this. And they also know that more than one in five women say that males simply can’t relate and certainly do not understand women. The result: Men are afraid of saying too much, because saying the wrong word may get them into greater trouble than Paris Hilton as a designated driver.
