Organizing for a Peaceful Atmosphere - meditation and visualization

There are a lot tangible benefits to organization, but did you know that organizing your personal space may also deliver positive mental and spiritual benefits?

Purging your home and workplace from jumble and unneeded items can symbolize a deeper process of cleansing and purification. As you cast aside old, worthless jumble and better organize what’s left, you′re effectively creating a sensation of lightness and freedom that can benefit you both mentally and spiritually.

On an active level, the effects of cleaning and de-cluttering may be even more profound because the process clears up stagnancy and calls in a flow of fresh, invigorating energy (also called “chi,” “ki,” or “qi” – which means “universal life energy”).

What does this mean for you and your space? More peace, prosperity, harmony and success!

Below you will find a few quick tips on how to help you organize for a more tranquil atmosphere:

1) First and foremost, straightening out clutter is crucial. Clutter debilitates your energy, breaks up your focus and leaves you feeling overwhelmed and confined. Take as much time as necessary to get rid of items that are no longer needed and arrange items that are to be kept. Yet, do not chuck them carelessly into drawers and closets; make sure to organize and place them neatly where they belong. Clutter is always clutter, and you’ll experience the same harmful effects even if it’s hidden away out of sight.

2) Once your environment is ordered, it’s time to do a physical cleanup job. Take hold of a vacuum cleaner, mops, buckets, dusting cloths, glass cleaner and any other supplies you’ll need, and get ready to clean like you’ve never cleaned before! It is very important to do a thorough job because you are not just stripping away visible dirt – you are also removing whatever remainder is left by dead, negative energy. You might not be able to see it, but you can still be affected by it on some level if you don’t get rid of it completely.

3) Finally, catch your breath and look at your surroundings. Acknowledge that they look better, but also notice the difference in the way the surroundings feel. Does it feel lighter and calmer? Most people can experience the difference right away.

You are not done yet, however! Now you are going to call back a lot of healthful energy to take the place of what you just cleared out. There are a lot of ways to do this, and none of them are more benevolent or more effective than the others. Pick out one or more that attract to you.

One of the more common methods is to “smudge” the area employing a bundle of dehydrated sage leaves. (These can be bought in herb shops or on the internet.) Light the end of the sage stick and blow out the flame so the leaves smolder and release that wonderful rich fragrant smoke. Walk through the rooms of your home and waft the scented smoke into the air. As you do, state loudly that you’re taking out negative energy and inviting a flow of fresh, beneficial energy to take its place.

A different technique is to simply light scented incense and candles in every room. The scents don’t really matter except that they are pleasing to you, but some popular choices include: lavender, rosemary, lemongrass, sage, sandalwood, myrrh, frankincense and rose.

Finally, you are able to use meditation and visualization to call in positive energy. Simply sit comfortably and do some deep-breathing exercises to bring yourself into a meditative state. Then think of brilliant white light impregnating every room of your home. Imagine that it somewhat hums and crackles with an electrical charge, nuking any negativity that may still linger and replacing it with peace and harmony.

Doing this process just once can produce quite an amazing change in the ambiance of your home, but doing it regularly can be even more effective. Why not try it every 3 months for starters, but do it as often as you need to whenever you sense the atmosphere becoming heavy and sluggish again.
